Jeanne Christie

Windham, Maine

Photo by Arthur PoppMs. Christie, the 2007 Education and Outreach Award winner, continues serving as the executive director of the Association of State Wetlands Managers, Inc.

Her recent Clean Water Act jurisdiction-related efforts have brought groups that were formerly not talking to the table to find common ground on a national level.

Finding states' interest in improving their wetland programs to be higher than any other time in the past twenty years, Christie is also striving to provide them with the information and tools that many badly need.

Christie and the ASWM continue to address a range of issues, including wetlands and climate change, a national wetland mapping standard, and important events and trends in wetland science. She responds to numerous requests for assistance and public comment, and is presently developing a number of new publications and electronic resources.
